The protest against the internal quota for SCs has turned violent in Shikaripura as protestors pelted stones at the house of former Chief Minister BS Yeddiyurappa.
The banners and flags of BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Bommai, were torn down by Banjara community youth, who also set fire to tires and sarees to express their discontent.
The protest march, which started from Ambedkar Circle and ended at the Taluk Office, witnessed some individuals attempting to besiege Yeddiyurappa’s residence.
In response, police resorted to lathi charge to control the crowd, resulting in injuries to both protestors and officials.
