Reknowned Yakshagana artist Nalka Jagadeesh of Sasihithlu Sri Bhagavathi Mela passed away at the age of 56 at a private hospital in Mangalore.
The artist was known for his talents in various art forms such as yakshagana, drama, harikathe, and mono acting.
Jagadeesh hailed from Nalka in Kasaragod taluk and received his primary education at Satyanarayan High School in Perla. He later learned yakshagana from Sabbana Kodi Rambhatta and became a popular amateur artist in the town.
He then went on to become a leading artist in the Sasihithlu Sri Bhagavathi Mela, where he often played the role of the protagonist.
Jagadeesh is survived by his wife Hema, who is also an amateur Yakshagana artiste, as well as a daughter and son.
