K’taka polls: Kagodu Thimmappa’s daughter Dr Rajnandini joins BJP

PTI, Apr 12, 2023, 4:12 PM IST

Unhappy about the denial of party tickets, several ticket aspirants continue to switch their allegiance to other political parties. Latest is Dr. Rajnandini, the daughter of senior Congress leader Kagodu Thimmappa, who has now joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after being denied a ticket by Congress.

Dr. Rajnandini was aspiring for a ticket from the Sagar constituency, but the Congress party decided to give the ticket to former MLA Belur Gopal Krishna instead. Disappointed with the decision, Dr. Rajnandini met with former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Wednesday, after which she decided to join the BJP.

The joining ceremony took place at the state BJP office in the presence of state President Nalin Kumar Kateel and former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa. Tennis player Teertha Iska, Prominent leaders Ratnakara Honagodu, Bhairappa, and Ramesh, also joined the BJP along with their supporters.

Prominent leaders including C T Ravi, Bhagwant Khuba, Siddaraju, Harthalu Halappa, and many others were also present.

It is worth noting that Dr. Rajnandini’s brother-in-law, former MLA Belur Gopal Krishna, also expressed displeasure with the Congress party’s decision and decided to join the BJP. Dr. Rajnandini had reportedly lobbied for a Congress ticket once again, but her efforts had proved to be in vain.
