Mangaluru: Income Tax Department officials reportedly conducted raids on the houses and offices of Congress leader and businessman Vivek Raj Poojary in Mangaluru.

The raids reportedly began at 7 am on Saturday, simultaneously at two of Vivek Raj Poojary’s residences in Attavar and Mannagudde and his office in Vivek Nagar.

A team of 14 officers from the Income Tax Department took part in the raids, which reportedly lasted for several hours.

Speaking to the media, Vivek Raj Poojary refuted any allegations of tax evasion and maintained that his business documents were in order. He further alleged that the raids were a politically motivated attack orchestrated by the BJP.
