Chief Minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suffered some setbacks as some of its leaders left the party due to the denial of tickets.

However, the CM assured the public that the damage caused by these departures would be controlled within the nomination period.

Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, April 16 Bommai acknowledged that the loss of some leaders could have an impact, but he also pointed out that the Congress party had been suffering from a lack of leaders and was now trying to fill its ranks by poaching members of the BJP.

Under BJP rules, some senior leaders were denied tickets, but they were promised other high posts in the party. Despite this, a few leaders still decided to leave the party. However, Bommai stressed that the BJP was still strong in the state and had many leaders from the Lingayat community in its ranks.

The upcoming elections in Karnataka will be closely watched as the BJP seeks to maintain its hold on the state.
