Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar, who has resigned from the post of MLA and the BJP’s primary membership over the denial of an election ticket,  due to BJP ticket rejection, arrived in Bengaluru from Hubbali on Sunday evening.

Shettar met state Congress in-charge Randeep Sujewala and KPCC president D.K. Shivakumar. According to sources, he plans to join the Congress on Monday.

Shamanuru Shivashankarappa, a senior Congress leader from Hubbali, and M.B. Patil accompanied Shettar on the helicopter to Bengaluru. Later he had a long discussion with Congress leaders in one of the apartments.

Despite these developments, some BJP leaders are still confident that Shettar will not join the Congress for any reason.

Earlier in the day, Jagadish Shettar tendered handed his resignation to the membership Legislative Assembly to Speaker Vishwanath Hegde Kageri in Sirsi. Thereafter he travelled to Hubballi and then boarded a special flight booked by a businessman to reach Bengaluru.
