Hubballi: BJP MLC Ayanur Manjunath has resigned from his post in the upper house. Manjunath arrived at the home office of Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti on Wednesday evening and handed over his resignation letter in person.
After accepting the letter, the Speaker confirmed that he had accepted the resignation.
This marks the sixth resignation of a council member in the past year, with five members stepping down after the assembly election process began. Manjunath was appointed as an MLC in 2018 and had been serving in the Legislative Council since then.
JDS has already declared Manjunath to be its candidate for the Shivamogga City constituency in the Karnataka Assembly elections to be held on May 10.
