Karnataka Polls: 17 candidates file nominations on April 19 in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: In the run-up to the Karnataka Assembly elections in the Dakshina Kannada district, candidates have begun filing their nomination papers. On April 19, as many as 17 candidates submitted their candidature in six of the eight assembly constituencies in the district.
On Wednesday, Mahesh filed his nomination paper as an independent candidate from Belthangady Assembly Constituency. In Moodabidri constituency, Ishwara S and Maxim Pinto as independent candidates, and Dayanand from the Karnataka Rashtra Samiti Party filed their nomination papers.
Similarly, H. Vinay Acharya (independent), B. Praveen Chandra Rao (Hindustan Janata Party), and Sandeep Shetty (AAP) filed nominations for Mangaluru North Constituency.
In Mangaluru South, Santhosh Kamath (AAP), Dharmendra (Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha), Nitin Kumar (BJP), and Vincy Pinto (Karnataka Rashtra Samithi) filed their nominations.
Ismail K Shafi (SDPI), P Ibrahim, Ashok Kumar Rai (Congress), Ivan Ferrao P (Karnataka Rashtra Samithi Party), and Sundara Koila (independent) submitted their nomination papers in Puttur Assembly Constituency. In Sullia Assembly Constituency, H. Venkatesh filed his nomination as a candidate of JD(S).
The remaining two constituencies, Mngaluru and Bantwal, have not received any nomination papers on April 19. Candidates have until April 20 to submit their nomination papers, District Election Officer Ravikumar M.R said.
