Altaf Kumpala, a leader of SSF who had recently joined the JD(S) and filed nomination from Ullal legislative constituency, has withdrawn his nomination without informing party leaders.

According to JD(S) leaders, he also switched off his mobile phone, leaving the party in the dark about his decision.

Altaf had convinced MLA B M Farooq to secure the party’s B form to contest in the constituency. However, he was not seen campaigning with party leaders after filing his nomination.

The notice of his withdrawal was posted on April 22, and local residents informed JD(S) leaders about the matter.

espite attempts to contact Kumpala, his phone remained switched off for two days. Previously active in SSF, Kumpala’s move to JD(S) and subsequent withdrawal from the Ullal constituency has surprised many.
