‘Won a lucky car’: M’luru man cheated of Rs 2.25L, case filed

Mangaluru: A man has been allegedly cheated of Rs 2.25 lakh on the pretext of having won a car. A case in this regard has been lodged with Mangaluru CEN police.

The complainant claimed that he received a scratch card via post on April 17. The post contained a WhatsApp number and the victim called on the given number. An unknown person answered the call and told the victim that he had won a car from Meesho.

The complainant was asked to share the code mentioned on the scratch card. Later the accused told him to transfer Rs 6,500 via Google Pay towards paperwork. Further, the accused cited reasons like taxes, GST, etc., and got the victim to transfer money.

The complainant ended up losing Rs 2.25 lakh in this manner.
