A woman in Bengaluru reportedly jumped off a bike taxi while it was in motion after the driver allegedly attempted to grope her and take her to a different destination.
The incident occurred on April 21, when the woman booked a ride through the Rapido app at approximately 11 pm.
According to the police, the driver snatched the woman’s phone and claimed he needed to check the OTP, but then began driving in the opposite direction and did not return the phone. The woman stated that the driver attempted to grope her while the vehicle was still in motion.
She then jumped off the speeding bike near the Abrar BMS college in Yelahanka, where the college guard came to her aid.
The rider fled the scene, but the police were able to identify the accused as Deepak Rao, a 27-year-old from Andhra Pradesh.
He has been now arrested and taken into custody and remanded in judicial custody.
