Uppinangady: A young man was harassed by persons behind the loan app he had borrowed money from by posting his obscenely morphed photos on social media.

The victim, identified as Hitesh Kumar from Uppinangady, has filed a complaint in this regard with the cyber crime police.

The complainant said that he borrowed money from a loan app but repaid all the amount outstanding via regular payments. Despite repaying the loan, he started receiving messages informing him that loan repayment was still due. Soon he started receiving threatening messages. Later, a morphed video clip of the victim was sent to his friends online.

The complainant said that he has been harassed and mentally tortured since April 23.

Police, meanwhile, have registered a case and investigating the matter.

In recent days, reports of such intimidation tactics by predatory loan apps have increased. The police officials have requested the victims to file a complaint with the police department without any hesitation and get justice.
