Hubballi: Leaders of various sub-sects of the Veerashaiva Lingayat community have come out in support of former Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar, who is contesting as a Congress candidate in the upcoming Assembly elections. The community leaders have pledged to ensure his victory by raising their hands.
At a meeting chaired by Congress leader Bangaresha Hiremath, Veerashaiva Lingayat community leaders expressed their solidarity with Shettar and recounted the incidents of humiliation he had faced while in the BJP. Shettar, in turn, expressed his gratitude to the community for their trust and support.
Hiremath went on to state that if Congress comes to power, there is a good chance that Shettar will once again occupy a high position in the government. He called upon everyone to unite and ensure that Shettar wins by a large margin of votes.
Other community leaders, including Nilakanta Asootie, Prof I.G. Sanadi, and Anil Kumar Patil, also spoke in support of Shettar and expressed their displeasure with the BJP for being upset over his decision to contest from the Congress.
Speaking about Rajasekhara Menasinakai, a BJP candidate in the same constituency, the leaders urged everyone to work hard for Shettar’s victory without fearing the BJP’s threats.
Several leaders, including Bapu Gowda Patila, Sivaputrappa Kamtara, and Mallikarjuna Savaka, among others, were present at the meeting and expressed their support for Shettar’s candidature. With such a show of solidarity, it is expected that Shettar will emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.
