All five Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates of Udupi have emerged victorious in the Karnataka assembly elections.
Despite the fact that four current BJP MLAs in the district were denied tickets, voters decided to elect new faces from the BJP, resulting in a clean sweep for the party.
The only close fight was witnessed in Karkala, where the sitting MLA and Minister Sunil Kumar of BJP won by a narrow margin against Congress candidate Muniyalu Udaya Shetty.
In Udupi constituency, Yashpal Suvarna defeated Prasad Raj Kanchan of Congress, securing a win for BJP. Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake faced defeat once again in Kaup constituency, where BJP’s Gurme Suresh Shetty won in his first attempt.
Kundapur constituency was won by Kiran Kumar Kodgi. BJP’s new face, Gururaj Shetty, won a landslide victory in Byndoor constituency. Congress’s Gopal Pujari, who contested against him, suffered another defeat.
