Mangaluru: Fire at a bank ATM located in Hampankatta late on Friday night destroyed a huge cache of currency notes stored inside it.
The ATM Machine, kiosk, and the currency notes store therein were completely gutted in the blaze. Due to the thick smoke, the bank office adjacent to the ATM also suffered some damage.
Fire tenders from the Pandeshwar fire station extinguished the fire, preventing further damage.
Fire officials believe that the fire’s origin was a short circuit. The extent of the financial loss is yet to be determined.
