Arun Kumar Puthila, a leader of the Sangh Parivar and an independent candidate, consoled his supporters after narrowly missing out on victory in the assembly polls from the Puttur constituency. He acknowledged that his ideology emerged victorious with the support of over 60,000 voters.

Puthila who watched the election results along with his supporters thanked them and promised to continue working with them in the future.

The election was closely contested between Ashok Rai of the Congress party and Arun Kumar, with Rai ultimately emerging as the winner.

Notably, the BJP candidate Asha Thimmappa Gowda finished in third place. Arun Kumar had opposed the BJP in protest against what he saw as unjust treatment of Hindutva activists.
