A liquor-laden lorry, proceeding towards Udupi from Kalaburagi overturned and fell in a ditch near Balagara Cross on National Highway 63 here.
The mishap took place after the lorry driver lost control of the vehicle while traversing through Arabail Ghat. While the driver sustained minor injuries, the attender was trapped under the lorry and was pulled out after over an hour. He was rushed to a hospital and his condition is said to be critical.
It is gathered that there were as many as 1700 liquor bottles in the lorry, half of which got damaged in the accident. Meanwhile, several people looted liquor bottles from the accident site.
