Veteran actor Sarath Babu passes away at 71 in Hyderabad

Renowned actor Sarath Babu passed away at the age of 71 on Monday in Hyderabad. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment for multiple organ failure at AIG Hospital.

Born as Sathyam Babu Dixithulu in 1951, Sarath Babu began his acting career in 1973 with the Telugu film “Rama Rajyam.” He gained popularity with K Balachander’s “Pattina Pravesam” in 1977, and went on to star alongside industry giants such as Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, and Chiranjeevi.

In addition to his Tamil and Telugu films, Sarath Babu also made notable appearances in Malayalam and Kannada cinema. His filmography includes movies like “Sarapancharam,” “Mullum Malarum,” “Dhanya,” and “Ranachandi,” among others.

Sarath Babu shared a close bond with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, and their collaborations in films like “Annaamalai,” “Muthu,” and “Velaikkaran” were highly appreciated by audiences.
