9 elected representatives yet to take oath of office as MLAs

Bengaluru: Some elected representatives were absent from taking the oath of office as MLAs on the second day of the session of the state Legislative Assembly. This prompted Protem Speaker R V Deshpande to issue a warning that those who fail to take the oath will forfeit their right to vote during the Speaker’s election.
As many as 16 elected representatives had not taken the oath of office when the House adjourned in the afternoon on Tuesday. Prominent among them include former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, his brother H D Revanna, and former minister Prabhu Chauhan.
Later, some representatives completed the swearing-in formalities in the evening.
As many as 9 elected representatives of the 16th Vidhana Sabha including 2 from Congress, 6 from JDS, and one from BJP have yet to take the oath. They will have an opportunity to take oath on Wednesday too, before the voting for Speaker’s post is scheduled to be held.
