Vitla: A heated scuffle broke out at Mani here on Wednesday, involving members of the Bajrang Dal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Congress. The altercation was reportedly triggered by a trivial dispute and resulted in injuries to several individuals.
Sanchalak of Bajrang Dal’s local chapter Mahendra and BJP member Prashant Naik, who were injured in the incident, are currently receiving medical treatment at a private hospital in Puttur.
Contrary to initial rumors circulating on social media and in certain media outlets, which falsely claimed that a sword attack had occurred, police issued a clarification that the injured were assaulted with sticks.
A complaint has been filed alleging that a gang involving Rakesh from Mangaluru, Mani Manjunath (alias Manju), Praveen Naik (alias Mahalinga), and others, were involved in the physical assault.
It is believed that the same groups were involved in clashes during the victory celebration of Bantwal MLA in the recently held elections. As fireworks were lit to mark the occasion, a commotion reportedly erupted between the aforementioned groups. Strikingly, a similar altercation unfolded during the celebration of the Congress party forming the government. It appears that the disagreement stemmed from rivalry during victory celebrations.
Vitla police are presently investigating the site of the incident to gather more information. Further updates on the matter are awaited.
