Mangaluru: Police conducted a raid and seized 10 loads of illegally mined sand and one JCB on the banks of the Netravati River in Faisal Nagar. The total value of the seized assets is estimated at Rs 3.70 lakh.
Kankanady City Police Station Sub-Inspector of Police, Jyoti N.A., received information about illegal mining taking place in Fiasal Nagar at around 3 am on Thursday during night rounds. A police team was quickly dispatched to the spot at around 3.20 am to conduct a raid. During the raid, 2 sand mounds with 5 loads in each stocked and an earthmover (JCB) were found at the site.
The JCB operator managed to flee from the spot.
A case has been filed at the Kankanady Police Station about the illegal mining without permits causing financial loss to the State exchequer.
