Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar, addressed the ongoing water dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, expressing a desire to move away from legal battles and find a mutual resolution.

Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said, “Karnataka aimed to prioritize the welfare of its farmers and residents. The budget allocation of Rs 1,000 crore has been done by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for water-related initiatives and I assure you that we will utilize it for the benefit of the region.”

“We bear no ill will towards Tamil Nadu; we do not seek conflict with them. The people there are our brothers and sisters, just as their people are ours. Let us not harbor envy or animosity,” Shivakumar added.
