Malpe: Social activist Ishwar Malpe has managed to rescue two dogs that had been trapped under the jetty at Malpe fishing port for the past one-and-a-half-years.

The dogs which had fallen into the water here were unable to come out and managed to survive by eating food thrown towards them by the fishermen. They used to spend the entire day crouching under the jetty and earlier efforts to rescue them went in vain.

On Monday, Ishwar Malpe yet again tried to rescue the dogs. He descended into the water with a rope and tyre and managed to pull up the dogs. As the dogs had been trapped in the water for over a year and a half they found it difficult to walk initially but were back to normal soon.

People have praised the humanitarian work of Ishwar Malpe.
