A false claim made by a 8-year-old girl to escape her parents scolding landed a food delivery agent in trouble in Electronics City area earlier this week.
The parents of the 8-year-old raised a commotion after she claimed that a food delivery agent had taken her to the terrace. After the girl pointed at an agent who was in the apartment premises, the residents of the housing society and security guards thrashed the agent brutally. The man was rescued following police intervention
What really transpired:
The girl was home alone when her parents had gone to drop her sibling. When they returned home they did not find the girl and began searching for her frantically. The girl was spotted on the terrace by one of the apartment residents. Upon hearing the commotion, the girl got scared of her parents scolding and concocted a story saying a food delivery agent who rang their door bell forcibly took her to the terrace.
When the cops checked the CCTV footage it was revealed that the girl had gone to the terrace alone and was playing there. She later admitted to having lied saying she was scared that she would get a thrashing from her parents for playing during study hours.
The girl’s parents apologised to the victim over the incident.
Thanking the police for saving him and revealing the truth, the delivery agent expressed his fear over the scenario had there been no CCTV camera.
