M’luru: Two including juvenile detained in extortion case

Mangaluru: Panamboor police detained two suspects including a juvenile in connection with the extortion of a youth.

Based on a complaint by the father of the victim, police said they have arrested Nihal Y Suvarna (19) a resident of Bengre, and detained a juvenile boy.

According to the complaint Nihal and the victim were known to each other. On June 16, the accused called the victim to railway tracks near Bykampady. The accused allegedly threw chilli powder into the victim’s eyes and robbed his mobile phone and gold chain.

Police said that a gold chain weighing 5.79 grams and a mobile phone were recovered. The total value of the goods is estimated to be Rs 45,000.

A case has been registered at the Panamboor police station in this regard.
