Karnataka government employees will have to compulsorily pass a Computer Literacy Test to avail of promotions or pay rise.
In an effort to accelerate the implementation of e-governance and ensure government officials are well-versed in computer skills, the e-Governance department has mandated a computer literacy test for all government employees. The initiative aims to familiarize over 2 lakh government officials, employees, officers, and staff who lack computer proficiency with the digital tools required for efficient public service.
Previously, individuals were granted multiple opportunities to clear the computer exam. However, those who have not yet passed the test have now been given a final chance to do so by the end of this year. Failure to pass the computer literacy test will result in employees being ineligible for promotions, pay raises, and other associated benefits.
To register for the exam, officers and employees who have not taken the Computer Literacy Test can visit the website https://clt.karnataka.gov.in. Similarly, employees of corporations and boards are requested to register their details on the website https://mnkclt.clt.karnataka.gov.in and proceed with the examination.
Employees who fail to do so before December 31, 2023, will be subjected to a probationary period and will not be eligible for promotions, annual pay increments, and other allowances.
