Mudigere: Police have successfully solved the mysterious murder case of a youth and apprehended two suspects in connection with the crime.
The accused -Rizwan and Zainullah, residents of Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district – have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of Muhammad Sawad (35), from Bantwal. Police said they are on the lookout for three more suspects involved in the case.
A team led by Mudigere Circle Inspector Somasekar and Banakal SI managed to track down and apprehend the two accused individuals at Guruwayanakere in Dakshina Kannada district. They were subsequently produced before the Mudigere court earlier today.
An unidentified decomposed body was found near Devaramane on the Charmadi Ghat on June 8. Later Sawad’s family made a positive identification. At the time, Sawad, who was said to be a ganja addict, had been missing for 10 days.
According to preliminary findings by the police, the murder appears to be linked to the illicit trade of narcotics, particularly ganja. A dispute related to the sale of drugs may have ended in the death of Sawad. Police said Sawad was killed at Bengre in Padubidri, allegedly by members of the gang he was involved with. The culprits later disposed of the body by discarding it near the famous tourist spot in Devaramane.
