Bengaluru: Minister of Women and Child Welfare Laxmi Hebbalkar on Friday informed that the state government will launch a new mobile app for the state government’s ‘Gruha Laxmi’ scheme under which Rs 2,000 will be given to women heads of family households.
“A Cabinet meeting will be held on June 28 to finalise the modalities required for rolling out the scheme. The date for implementation of the scheme will be decided at the meeting,” she told reporters.
She made the remarks following a meeting with deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar, ministers Krishna Byregowda, Priyanka Kharge and other officials.
Despite upgradation, the SevaSindhu portal is facing server overload owing to the numerous applications, informed DK Shivakumar.
“Due to server issues on the SevaSindhu portal, the government has taken the decision to launch a new app for Gruha Laxmi scheme registrations. The matter will be discussed with the Chief Minister during the cabinet meeting on Wednesday and the date for implementation of the scheme will be announced,” he said.
On the Gruha Jyoti scheme, Shivakumar said the process for registrations has been simplified for the benefit of users. Arrangements have been made for online and offline applications.
Furthermore, Shivakumar said that there have been several complaints about middlemen taking Rs 200-300 for Gruha Jyoti registration. He warned that the licenses of agencies or anyone who accepts a commission to fill the registrations would be revoked.
“There is no need to bribe anyone to register for the schemes. If anyone asks for a bribe, the applicants can call on toll-free number and lodge a complaint,” he said.
