A woman has been levied a fine of Rs 5,000 for hurling stones at a government bus that failed to halt at the designated bus stop.
The incident unfolded when Lakshmi, a resident of Ilakal village, visited Huligi in Koppal district and paid a visit to the Huligemma temple for worship.
Expressing her discontent, Lakshmi claimed that despite waiting for hours at the Lingapur bus stand, no bus stopped to pick her up. Overwhelmed with frustration, she resorted to throwing stones at the Koppal-Hosapete non-stop bus, resulting in damage to one of its windows. Responding swiftly, the bus driver immediately halted the vehicle, apprehended Lakshmi, and escorted her to the Munirbad police station.
Following discussions and understanding the circumstances, the driver decided to accept Lakshmi’s apology. Consequently, she was issued a fine of Rs. 5,000 as a disciplinary measure. With the matter resolved, Lakshmi availed the same bus to return to her village, Ilakal.
No formal complaint has been filed regarding the incident.
