Mulki: Woman seriously injured as lorry knocks her down

Mulki: A woman pedestrian crossing the national highway here was seriously injured after being hit by a lorry on Thursday afternoon.

The injured has been identified as Veronica Aranha (53), wife of Walter Aranaha who resides near Mulki sub0registrar’s office.

According to sources, the accident occurred near the Hospet-Panchamahal junction the lorry laden with cargo was moving from Udupi. In a bid to avoid hitting the woman crossing the road, the lorry driver swerved the steering wheel.  However, the lorry knocked her down and hit a car parked on the NH, and came to a rest on the road divider.

Due to the severity of the accident, the victim sustained a serious head injury and a severe facial injury.
