Heavy rains in Mangaluru: Pumpwell, Kottara Chowki junctions submerged

Team Udayavani, Jul 3, 2023, 5:32 PM IST

The city of Mangaluru has been grappling with heavy rainfall over the past couple of days, leading to the complete submersion of Pumpwell Junction under floodwater. A

s a result, the crucial route towards Mangaluru has been rendered impassable, leaving vehicles stranded at the junction for hours and causing severe traffic congestion on Monday, July 3.

To tackle the chaotic situation, traffic police have been deployed in the area, working tirelessly to manage the traffic flow and explore the possibility of diverting vehicles to alternative routes. The inundation beneath the Pumpwell flyover has disrupted the movement of vehicles, especially those heading towards Mangaluru.

In addition to Pumpwell Junction, the nearby Kottara Chowki junction has also succumbed to heavy rainfall, experiencing significant waterlogging. This further compounds the traffic woes in the area, as two major junctions remain heavily affected by flooding.

Motorists and commuters are advised to exercise caution and patience while navigating the affected areas, as the authorities work diligently to alleviate the traffic congestion and restore normalcy.
