Torrential Rains: Holiday declared for schools and colleges in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan announced a holiday for schools and colleges in the district on Tuesday in view of the prediction for more rainfall.

Schools and colleges in Mangaluru, Mulki, Ullal, Moodabidre and Bantwal taluk will remain shut on July 4, the DC said.

A holiday has been declared for Tuesday in the neighbouring district of Kasaragod also.

DK  district has been grappling with heavy rainfall over the past couple of days. In Mangaluru, rains lead to the submersion of many low-lying areas including Pumpwell Junction and Kottara Chowki under floodwater.

As a result, the crucial route towards Mangaluru has been rendered impassable, leaving vehicles stranded at the junction for hours and causing severe traffic congestion on Monday, July 3.
