Harsha Murder case: K’taka HC denies bail to accused

The accused, Faraz Pasha, in the murder of Bajrang Dal worker Harsha Nagaraj in Shivamogga last year, has been denied bail by the Karnataka High Court.

The court cited strong evidence presented by the prosecution, including call records, CCTV footage, and witness statements, which indicated Pasha’s active involvement in the crime.

Pasha’s counsel argued that he was unaware of the consequences of his actions and should be granted bail on the grounds of parity, as two other co-accused had been granted bail.

However, the court stated that in UAPA cases, once the accusations are found to be prima facie true, other factors for granting bail cannot be considered.

The court also highlighted that the motive behind the murder was to instill fear among Hindus, as the accused were communal fanatics.

The murder case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in March of the same year, and the agency named the 10 arrested accused in its chargesheet.
