Heavy rainfall: Holiday declared for schools, PU colleges in DK on July 6

Mangaluru: As the region continues to be battered by heavy rainfall, the Dakshina Kannada district administration has declared a holiday for schools and PU colleges for July 6.

IMD has predicted the intense rainfall to continue in the district on Thursday also.

Deputy Commissioner, in a notification on Wednesday, ordered the Anganwadis, primary and high schools, and pre-university colleges, including aided as well as private institutions, shall remain closed on July 6.

It is also requested that parents be vigilant and not let the kids near water bodies.

Fishermen have been asked not to venture into the seas. Tourists and residents have been asked not to visit beaches and riverside.

In case of emergencies, the Dakshina Kannada DC asked the residents to contact the control room on 24×7 toll-free number 1077 or 0824-2442590.
