Belthangady: Girl seriously injured, several vehicles damaged after being hit by speeding tipper lorry

Belthangady: A rashly driven tipper lorry collided with buses and several parked vehicles and seriously injured a 17-year-old pedestrian.
The injured has been identified as Veeksha, a resident of Gunderi in Balanja village. She has been rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru.
The tipper driver identified as Suresh has been booked.
The tipper lorry (KL 13 L 6078) was on its way to Guruwayanakere from Ujire. According to eyewitnesses, the lorry was speeding and rammed into the rear end of a bus and went on to hit another bus. It also brushed against several vehicles including 4 cars and an auto rickshaw before coming to a halt.
Veeksha who was walking near the accident spot was also crushed by the lorry. She was rushed to a private hospital in Guruvayanakere before being referred to a hospital in Mangaluru.
Veeksha and her friend were on their way to a computer training class. Eyewitnesses said that the other girl miraculously escaped unhurt.
A complaint has been registered at Belthangady traffic station.
