Bengaluru : Karnataka government has given a one-time relaxation to the students who have not written the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to BSc nursing courses.
The students did not get enough time to prepare for the CET conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority for the admission to the B.Sc. Nursing course for the year 2023-24. Due to this thousands of candidates are likely to be deprived of the opportunity. In this background, one-time exemption has been given to those who have written CET and those who have not written CET, so that there is no injustice to both categories, Medical Education and Skill Development Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil said in reply to a query by a member of legislative council.
Accordingly, two rounds of counseling will be conducted on the basis of merit for the admission of candidates who have written CET. Then the remaining seats will be allowed to be filled up by the respective colleges. Students who have not written CET can also get admission at this stage. However, it is mandatory to follow the norms of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Accordingly, the general merit students need to score a minimum of 45percent in PCMB subjects in PUC whereas students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes should have to score 40%, he added.
