Dharmasthala: Four arrested for inhumane transportation of cattle

Dharmasthala police have apprehended four individuals for their involvement in the inhumane transportation of cattle using three vehicles.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Pramod Salian from Mortaje in Navoor village, Pushparaj from Olagadde, Channakeshava from Arakalagoodu in Hassan, and Sandeep Hirebeleguli, a resident of Holenarasipura. All four are reported to be active BJP workers.
Following a specific tip-off, a police team led by SI Anil Kumar from the Dharmasthala police station conducted vehicle checks near Kanyadi Ram Mandir in Dharmasthala on the night of July 12.
Three vehicles including two pick-ups going to Dharmasthala from Ujire were found transporting cattle. Eight cattle including six cows and two male calves were confiscated by the police.
The value of the confiscated cattle is estimated to be Rs 65000 and that of the vehicles is Rs 7 lakh.
