Byndoor: A trio has been arrested for trying to dupe people by passing off an unknown yellow waxy substance as valuable ambergris (aka whale vomit).

Byndoor police said that they have arrested 3 Shivamogga residents identified as Niranjan (26), Milan Monish Shetty (27), and Prithvi Domonic (31) ehil e trying to pull off the fraud.  The substance, weighing 3 kilos 910 grams, resembling the ambergris was also confiscated from them.

According to Indian law, any dealings with ambergris are illegal. As genuine ambergris is very expensive, a network selling spurious ambergris seems to be active.
