B’luru: Teen set ablaze by uncle over relationship with cousin

In a shocking incident, a teenager was doused with petrol and set him ablaze by his relatives near the Kaniminike toll plaza of the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway here.
The victim, Shashank, a first-year engineering student is undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital and is said to be in a critical condition.
It is gathered that the act was carried out by Shashank’s paternal uncle after he discovered that the former was in a relationship with his daughter.
The incident took place on Saturday morning when Shashank was returning home from college after finding out that classes had been cancelled.As he was walking a car pulled over next to him and dragged him inside the car and drove off to a secluded plot near the Kaniminike toll plaza.
The gang, comprising his relatives assaulted him then doused him in petrol and set him on fire before driving away from the spot.
Shashank managed to call his friends who rushed to the spot and took him to the hospital by ambulance.
Based on Shashank’s complaint, Kumbalgudu police filed an FIR under IPC sections 143, 149, 363, 307 and 323.
