Mangaluru International Airport is now equipped with a canine squad to track unattended baggage. I

In addition to the presence of closed-circuit cameras (CC cameras) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, the international airport has introduced a talented canine squad. Consisting of four dogs, these canines work alongside the CISF personnel, patrolling various areas of the airport, including terminals, landing zones, and parking areas. Their primary responsibility is to identify and examine any suspicious objects.

The four canines currently serving at the airport are Max, Ranger, Julie, and Goldie. Among them, Julie is the sole female dog, while the others are males. Max and Ranger belong to the Belgian Malinois breed, known for their intelligence and agility, while Julie and Goldie are Labradors, valued for their friendly nature and acute senses.

Passengers are strongly advised to ensure that their baggage is never left unattended. If a member of the canine squad detects an unattended bag, security personnel will deem it as a potential security risk. Consequently, the passenger associated with the bag will be subjected to thorough interrogation and investigation.
