Amidst the persistent heavy rainfall in the region, the Uttara Kannada and Shivamogga district administrations have taken the precautionary measure of declaring a holiday for schools and pre-university (PU) colleges on Monday, July 24.
The Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada, on Sunday, announced that all Anganwadis, primary and high schools, as well as aided and private pre-university colleges, will remain closed on July 24.
Similarly, Shivamogga DC has declared a holiday for schools in the district for Monday.
Normal life has been disrupted by the heavy rains that continue to pound the region.
In Uttara Kannada, a large quantity of water is likely to be released from Kadra Dam to the Kali River as rains swelled the water flow into the dam.
