Madikeri: As heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds pounded the Kodagu district, the holiday for schools has been extended to Tuesday, July 25.
Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja, on Monday, announced that Anganwadis, schools, and pre-university colleges in the district shall remain closed on July 25 to ensure the safety of students. However, this will not be applicable to undergraduate and postgraduate colleges.
Monsoon rains continue their fury in the district, causing rivers and streams to overflow. In many places, road connectivity has been disrupted. Trees and electricity poles were also uprooted by the heavy winds.
The Cauvery River is flowing above the danger level, prompting the local administration to instruct residents on the banks of the river to shift to safer places.
