Mangaluru: Predicting extremely heavy rainfall, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in Dakshina Kannada district for Tuesday (July 25).

As a precautionary measure, the district administration has declared a holiday on July 25 for all schools and colleges from Anganwadis to degree colleges across the district.

Meanwhile, tourists have been warned not to venture near waterbodies including rivers and beaches.

District and taluk-level officials have been instructed to be on alert to respond to any emergency situations.

On Monday, several undergraduate students struggled to reach the examination centers as rivers were flowing above the danger mark in Subramanya surroundings.
