Aranthodu: Traffic on the Mani-Mysuru National Highway 275 has come to a standstill after a hillock collapsed due to the heavy rainfall on Monday evening.

The landslip occurred at around 6.30 pm near Kartoji near Madenadu here.

Loose mud along with trees fell onto the highway, blocking all lanes. Efforts are currently underway to clear the soil and other debris from the road.

As a result of the blockage, a long queue of vehicles was seen on the highway. The line reached up to the Gadikallu in Sampaje. Forest officials from Madikeri and Koyanad are at the scene.

Later in the evening, traffic was allowed on the highway after the debris was removed.
