VV Puram police successfully apprehended a notorious drug peddler, John Igwa Yat (28), hailing from Nigeria.
During the arrest, the police seized a substantial quantity of illicit drugs, including 1 kg of MDMA and 200 grams of MDMA. Additionally, they confiscated one motorbike from the accused. The estimated value of the seized drugs is around Rs 2 crore.
Yat, who had arrived in Bangalore on a student visa five years ago, had been involved in the drug trade since then. Local authorities, including the CCB and the police, had previously arrested him multiple times, and he had been sent to jail. However, after securing bail, he continued his illegal activities.
The accused had been residing in a rented house in RT Nagar, along with an unidentified friend, who is currently being sought by the police. Yat was allegedly procuring raw materials from Goa and Maharashtra at a nominal cost, and then manufacturing and selling MDMA to students and tech professionals who frequented parties and gatherings.
Following the arrest, a search was conducted at Yat’s residence in RT Nagar. However, an accomplice, another Nigerian citizen, managed to evade the police by flushing the drugs in the toilet and fleeing through the window. The authorities are currently conducting a thorough search operation to apprehend the fugitive.
