Mangaluru: One person arrested in POCSO case

Mangaluru: Police have arreste an accused under the provisions of POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The accused has been identified as Mohammed Shafi, a resident of Ullal.

Shafi was known to the victim, who is aa class 8 student. He allegedly struck a friendship with the victim.

It is alleged that the accused visited the girl at her home in Januarythis year when she was alone at home and sexually assaulted her. The assault continued on several occasions thereafter.

A case was registered at the Mangaluru Women’s Police Station after it was revealed that the girl had been pregnant for 6 months.

The accused meanwhile has been arrested under the POCSO Act and produced before the court. He has been remanded to 15-day judicial custody, police said.
