Ramanagara: The ban on motorbikes, autorickshaws, and tractors on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway will come into effect from August 1.
The move comes as part of a joint initiative by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the police department to curb road accidents and improve safety measures on the expressway.
Starting from August 1, the new rule restricts the movement of bikes, autos, and tractors on the highway, even if the toll is paid. The decision aims to prevent vehicles that are not fit for highway use from plying the busy route, which has been a hotspot for accidents in recent times.
Violators of the ban will be subject to a fine of Rs 500. To ensure compliance, thorough checks will be conducted at nine locations along the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway including at entry and exit points.
