Byndoor: One fisherman dead, another missing after fishing boat capsizes at Uppunda

Uppunda (Byndoor): one fisherman died another went missing after a fishing boat capsized at Karkikali here on Monday afternoon.

The fishing boat was reportedly caught in huge sea waves while returning after an expedition and overturned. As many as 8 persons were on the boat.

One among them, identified as Satish (29) was swept away by the sea whereas the other, identified as Nagesh (27), was rescued but died on the way to the hospital.

The other 6 managed to swim ashore, but two among them are reportedly hospitalised due to weakness.

The ill-fated boat, named Marlu Chikku owned by Sachin, has completely sunk. A search and rescue operation is underway to trace the missing fisherman.
