Udupi,Brahmavar taluks gear up for GP Prez, Vice Prez elections

The stage is set for the elections of Gram Panchayat President and Vice President in several villages across the district after August 17.

While the term of the President and Vice President in Kanyana village of Brahmavar taluk has not expired due to delayed elections, elections were not held in Hosadu village of Kundapur taluk. Apart from these two, elections for President and Vice President positions will be held in 153 village councils in the district.

In rural village politics, there is fierce competition between Congress-BJP supporters, and political calculations have come into play among the aspirants qualified for the reserved positions.

In Udupi Taluk, 16 villages are gearing up for the elections, and the following officers have been appointed for overseeing the process:

Perduru, Kukkehalli: S.N. Ramesh, Assistant Director, Taluk Social Welfare Department
Bairampalli, Bommarabettu: Gautham Shastri, Geologist, Department of Mines and Geology
Kalyanpur, Thonse: Shankar, District Manager, Ambedkar Corporation
Thenkanidiyur, Badanidiyur: Mohanraj, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture
Ambalapadi, Kadekaru: Chandragowda, BEO, Udupi
Udyavara, 80 Badagabettu: Nidhish, Assistant Horticultural Director
Atradi, Kodibettu: Hajira Sajini, Geologist, Department of Mines and Geology
Manipur, Alevoor: Vinayak Pujar, AEE, Public Works Department

Similarly, in Brahmavar Taluk, 26 villages are preparing for the elections, and the designated officers are as follows:
