Ankola: Sportsperson Anil Gaonkar dies of heart attack

Ankola: Anil Ramachandra Gaonkar of Poojageri, a well-known sportsperson, passed away on Sunday after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Anil has been at the forefront of sports and cultural activities by organizing many cricket tournaments in the taluk.

He was admitted to a private hospital on Saturday after he complained of breathlessness and other problems and died of a heart attack while preparing to be taken to Mangaluru for further treatment on Sunday.

On hearing the news, Poojageri villagers and many others in the taluk rushed to the hospital. He is survived by his mother Sevanti Gaonkar and brothers Krishna Gaonkar and Prabhakar Gaonkar.
